Tamam Shud - Permanent Culture (1994)

The third album from this Australian band.

Taman Shud is a quartet on this album with a lineup of guitars, bass, drums and bass.

It was twenty-four years since the band released their second album Goolutionites And The Real People. Strangely enough 3/4 of those who recorded that album is also with the band on Permanent Culture. They are Tim Gaze and Lindsay Bjerre on guitars + vocals and Peter Barron on bass.

Only Lindsay Bjerre on guitars + vocals and Peter Barron on bass has been with the band since their 1969 debut album Evolution. You can find my review of that album here.
The band released a new album in 2016 with the same lineup as on Permanent Culture.
A sporadic career in other words......

Permanent Culture sees the band go for rock'n'roll. There is some blues and some hard rock here too. But the music is very commercial and very live gigs friendly.
I am not sure if I would scream for the new songs or the 1970s songs if I was a fan, though.... Their best days was in the early 1970s. The years that built the band.

The songs are very basic and not that exciting. They are by no means bad songs. They are working. But they are not good and the band is not exactly pushing the envelope or themselves here.

This is a decent album but nothing more.
