Humus - 4º (1997)

The fourth album from this Mexican band.

Humus was an eight piece big band with a lineup of guitars, drums, keyboards, percussion, bass and effects.

I have reviewed their previous three albums and have not been too impressed by them. You will find these reviews somewhere else in this blog.

The band plays some sort of guitar based psych and space rock. The music is pretty primitive and stripped down.

The music on 4 is not as stripped down as on their previous album Malleus Crease. There is a lot more meat on the bones on this forty-five minutes long album than on the previous album.

First of all, there is a lot more keyboards and the guitars are also more inventive in the riffs. The sound is bigger and the music is more melodic.

The music is still not particular good. The art of good song and riffs writing is still eluding the band. Which means that this is a decent album, but nothing more than that. I am not impressed.
