Quarto Sensorial - Halteroniilismo (2014)

The second album from this Brazilian band.

The band was a trio with a lineup of drums, piano, bass, guitars, synths and programming.
They had help from guest musicians who provided narration, samplings, saxophones, organs and keyboards.

I reviewed their 2012 debut album A + B last month and I was not impressed by that album. You can read the review here.

The band is listed as a fusion band in ProgArchives. That is not what we get here. Well, not much of this album is fusion. And the fusion, with some influences from Latin-Jazz, is pretty generic and pretty dull too.

The main body of this fifty-three minutes long album is avant-garde music. We are not talking avant-garde music which has a point and a purpose. We are talking avant-garde music as if the instruments was falling from a high rise building. The recording of them hitting the ground is basically what we get here.

Well, it sounds like it.

There is no point, no purpose and nothing remote musically or artistic in most of the avant-garde noise on this album. This album is a bona fida turkey and a big one too. If you feel too happy and want to become very angry again; check out this album. The rest of you should avoid it.
