Pavlov's Dog - Lost In America (1990)

The third album from this US band.

The band was a quintet on this album with a lineup of keyboards, guitars, saxophones, bass, drums and vocals.
The band had help from some guest musicians who provided guitars, percussion and background vocals.

Their first two albums was pretty good. Their debut album Pampered Menial is regarded as a classic US prog rock album. And rightly so.

Lost In America was their first album for fourteen years. A comeback album in other words.

David Surkamp's pretty special vocals was still very much present here. It is hard to overlook those vocals as they are love/hate vocals. I am more in the middle..... well, leaning towards hate, in fact. But I am as objective as I can be. His vocals is in fact also adding a lot of identity and charm to this band.

The band has moved away from progressive rock and gone for a much more mainstream AOR sound. This is indeed an AOR album.

Forty-three minutes of decent AOR is not everyone's cup of tea and I am not a fan of this album at all. But check it out if AOR is your stuff.
