Moom - Toot (1995)

The debut album from this UK band.

Moom was a quintet with a lineup of wibble noises, bass, drums, keyboards, guitars and vocals.

Moom is a new band to me. They released two albums before they gave up the ghost. Both albums will be reviewed/has been reviewed here.

The band has been compared a lot to Hatfield & The North. Which is why I got their two albums. You cannot go wrong with Hatfield & The North.

Yes, the music is whimsical on this album. It is a mix of whimsical pop, jazz and progressive rock. There are even some pretty big references to both The Beatles and Madness here.

This band and album has rightfully been labeled as Canterbury Prog.

This album is one hour long. The music is far from reaching the quality of Hatfield & The North and other Canterbury Prog greats. The guitar solos are very long and a bit weird. They are also pretty jazzy. Frank Zappa is a good reference when it comes to the guitars.

The end result is not really impressive. This is a decent enough album, but nothing more than that.It is not a Hatfield & The North copycat.
