Blezqi Zatsaz - Rise and Fall of Passional Sanity (1991)

The debut album from this Brazilian band.

Blezqi Zatsaz was a quartet with a lineup of keyboards, guitars, bass, drums and percussion.

The band released in total two albums before they gave up the ghost. I did review their second and final album for ProgArchives back in June 2010. Read my review here.

This band with this strange name is one of the many South American bands who did and does instrumental symphonic prog. Symphonic prog strongly influenced by ELP and Yes.

There is also a lot of classical music influences in their music. Not the usual Bach, Beethoven and Mozart. But more heavy, complex Russian and European classical symphony composers.

There is a lot of Rick Wakeman like keyboards cascades here. The music is baroque and pretty dense throughout. Slightly gothic too.

The album clocks in at fifty minutes and offers good value for everyone into instrumental symphonic prog. I have my reservations. But this is, as the follow up album, a good album. Check out both albums.
