Lokomotive Kreuzberg - Kollege Klatt (1972)

The debut album from this German band.

The band was a quintet with a lineup of clavinet, violin, synths, bass, drums, guitars, harmonica and German vocals.

Krautrock is a very big genre which incorporates everything from spaced out space rock, electronica, hard rock, blues, folk rock, psych and more political rock.

The year was 1972 and Germany was split into two countries. East Germany, the Sovietunion client state and West Germany who was a normal European state with free elections and free speach.

Lokomotive Kreuzberg was a hard-left band who wanted communism. I am not sure if that mean Maoism or the Sovietunion version of communism. My guess is that they were Maoists. That was the more fashionable style of communism back then. Still is.

Lokomotive Kreuzberg released four studio albums before they split up. I have reviewed a couple of their albums here and here. A final review will be added before the end of this year/you will find another review of their albums somewhere else in this blog.

The band was a political band where the vocals was sometimes shouted out in a manner which gives me some very bad associations to events we all wish to forget. The lyrics means more than the music here. The lyrics are in German and I am not particular good in that language.

The music plays a secondary role here and it is a mix of funky rock and folk rock. The music is pretty bad too and this album is simply and plainly a turkey. Hence my verdict.
