Napoli Centrale - Jesceallah (1992)

The fourth album from this Italian band.

The band was a quartet on this album with a lineup of saxophone, bass, drums, keyboards and Italian vocals.

Napoli Centrale returned from a fifteen years long break and with a new leader. James Senese on saxophone had taken over the band.

The opening minutes of this album is the Area like Napoli Centrale from the 1970s. And there is not that much changes either. The saxophone, surprise surprise, has taken over most of the space here and the band has moved slightly more towards clean standard jazz. Not big band jazz, but the type of jazz Sonny Rollins gave us.

There is even some African rhythms and influences here. There is also some Italian vocals and an Italian song here.

The music is indeed good. Good if you like jazz. James Senese does a very good job on his saxophone and as a band leader. The bass is also very good.

The music is good without really having that xtra sparkle and quality I would like. But it gives us almost an hour worth of a good time. Check it out.
