Horslips - The Man Who Built America (1978)

The eight album from this Irish band.

Horslips was a quintet with a lineup of bass, drums, concertina, fiddle, mandolin, whistle, flute, keyboards, guitars and vocals.

I have reviewed some of their previous releases this winter and you can find them somewhere else in this blog.

The previous album, Aliens, was a pop rock album with some rather strong Thin Lizzy influences. Those influences has been discarded on this album, though.

There are still a considerable folk rock influence in their music. The music is still pop rock with a lot of country'n'western influences too.

There is indeed a lot of pop influences here too and this music is probably going down well live.... with audiences in a party mood and with a considerable alcohol intake. On a record, the music falls a bit flat on it's face.

The songs are decent enough. There is not any good songs though and there is no good details either. Hence the rating.
