Us - Lindisfarne (2017)

The tenth album from this Dutch band.

Us is a trio with a lineup of drums, keyboards, bass, guitars and vocals. Both male and female vocals.

I have reviewed their previous albums for ProgArchives and you can find my reviews on the band link above.

The band has a very low profile and they is one of those unknown prog rock bands. This despite of having released ten albums. The band has a lot of talents, but no money. Which is a great shame.

Their music is neo-prog. Classic neo-prog, I would say. Their songs has always been very long. Suites, in fact. Half an hour long suites.

On this album, their first one for six years, they have gone a bit folk rock too. The ten minutes long title track is a good example of that. The mix of female and male vocals works very well on this track.

Unfortunate, the sound is really weak on this album. It is sorely lacking beef and power. The instruments are wishy-washy and I am in doubt if this album has been recorded in a studio at all. My guess is a bedroom or a living room. Or maybe the damage has been done with the mastering.

Which is a shame because the songs are really good this time around. The sounds kills this album flat out. I like the band and the quality of the songs so this is a great shame. But check it out.
