Ash Ra Tempel - Join Inn (1973)

The fourth album from this German band.

Ash Ra Tempel was a quartet on this album with a lineup of guitars, bass, drums, organ, drums and female vocals.

Klaus Schulze was back in the band again after sitting out two albums. His own career and body of work is impressive, having just released a new album. But he was also an on and off member of Ash Ra Tempel.

The band was in effect a trio on this album as there is not much female vocals here.

This album is divided into two songs. Freak'n'Roll and Jenseits.

Freak'n'Roll is one heck of a guitar solo, nineteen minutes long, from the main man in this band, Manuel Gottsching. He works around a beat laid down by Klaus Schulze and Hartmut Enke. This is a good piece of music.

Jenseits is a twenty-five minutes more or less ambient piece of music. Ambient but still pretty dynamic with various moods and soundscapes. This is clearly Klaus Schulze territory and the vocalist Rosi Muller is adding some well restrained vocals to this piece of music. A piece of music which actually works and one I like.

Forty odd minutes of music and this album comes to an end. This is a good album and one krautrock fans would like. An album of huge contrasts. It is still a good album, though. Check it out.
